April 8 I couldn’t wait to see what type of foods I’d be craving, unfortunitly I’m not craving anything cool. During the first trimester all I wanted was Pizza, I thought maybe this was just my own liking for pizza but it was uncontrollable. After one day of feeling quite sick from the pizza I had for lunch, that craving subsided. Then it was eggs! 1, 2, 3, 4 eggs a day. I tried to combat this by eating other sources of protein but the smell and feel of chicken, steak, anything fleshy made me quizy! And the eggs, those damn eggs, they looked so good! I’d go to diners for lunch and have eggs. When that craving passed I moved onto fruit which I noticed because I kept filling my face with fruit flavored gum. Even though I made sure to get fruit in everyday beforehand. So I figured it may be time to start mixing some fruit smoothies into the mixture. Now I’m at the stage of Chicken McNuggets, I was never a nugget person before and for this month I am! I really, really worried about this one because who wants an uncontrollable fast food craving while their pregnant. I read in Child magazine at my last doctor appointment, a listing of people’s odd cravings. There was a woman who could not stop eating Nuggets, she was a teacher and she wanted them so bad she’d bribe her students to get her some on their breaks. To help myself stay somewhat healthy I only let myself get a happy meal, this way I only get four nuggets and a TOY!
Actually Tony and I have been on this new nutritian plan that I made up. I read that the placenta replenishes itself every three hours so I figured I’ll eat every three hours. When I figure the hours in my day from wake to bedtime that ends up being five times a day. Which totally meets up with the eat five small meals a day rule you hear so much about. Plus “they” say you should have five fruits and five vegetables a day. So what I’ve been doing is every three hours I have a piece of fruit, a veggie, a dairy, a protein and a grain(whole wheat only).This sounds like a lot but if you go by what a “TRUE” serving size is it really isn’t too much. Plus you have three hours to eat it.

It’s been working out real well. Except for two things. I can’t seem to get all the protein I need in there (maybe this is why I crave nuggets) and the last two meals are at home and I’m not real good at the plan at home I end up straying and eating more white carbs. But Even so, I have noticed a significant difference in getting three of those meals right. So I’ll keep it up! Tony and I bought coolers and Ice packs so we eat from them all day.
