March 25
Tony and I have settled on a nursery. What a great feeling that is! There were three nurseries that meet up with my and Tony’s travel needs so that he could drop baby off in the mornings easily and I could pick baby up easily. Our choices were La Petite, Mulberry and ABC (local family based). We ended up choosing Mulberry. What an absolutely adorable, fun, loving place! It has everything. From any activity you can think of to what seems to be a very lovely staff. First we went to ABC, I did love them. They had a nice staff and a POOL! The only thing I did not like was the one big room for the toddlers. It seemed dark and cold. But oh how in love I was with the idea of baby learning to swim and having a pool in the summer! But we most move on, next we went to la petite. La Petite is part of many I believe so I can’t speak for all of them, just my opinions on the local one. There seemed to be One BIG communal room and then some individual classrooms which I didn't really like. Also I did not like the staff. I asked Tony to try and imagine each person we meet today holding, soothing and loving our baby. Neither one of us felt any mothering with them. It was purely professional, and professionally they were at the top of their game, she went down the list on what was expected of us and them, the safety policies and schedules. But she was like a car salesman and the kids were like cars. Plus the girl in the nursery, she looked dirty. Now usually I do not judge people this way! But the thought of her holding my baby was not a good picture. One great thing I can say about the particular place was they had a really nice playground. So last but not least we went to Mulberry. This started off bad because we wrung the bell and no one answered yet we could see people in there. I eventually had to call inside and tell them we were out there. When the woman came to let us in I felt an immediate warm feeling. She was a very pleasant, cheerful looking woman holding a toddler in her arms. She made it very easy for me too see her caring for my baby one day. I could see the look on Tony’s face too, he was impressed with her also. Right away she checked the doorbell, which worked, and she apologized for not hearing it and began our tour (still carrying this toddler around, and fussing with his hair) Now Tony and I had already had a glimpse of this place when it was closed one day. We did some peeking in the windows, I was so impressed with all the projects in the windows, all the rooms, and the amount of toys and color! And that was just a peek at the out side, going inside was quite a treat. Shoot I wish I went there! There were many rooms, which all smelled so clean (until you got to the four years old rooms). Each room was designed for a specific age group with their very own teacher or caregiver. You could see the difference in the toys and projects designated for each room. Kids names were on the windows to give them a feel of home and security, and macaroni type projects all over the walls. But there was no pool and the playground was lacking, so in the end after she told us all about the outside activities like going to the YMCA to swim and the all the spring activities like picnics, animal shows and such I decided that if there were no pool at ABC who would I choose and it ended up being Mulberry by a long shot. Plus I think Tony would have put his foot down this time, there was no competition in the matter for him.
